Or, why not pop into their Cheese & Gift Shop to sample the cheese before heading to the 1897 Coffee Shop for a refreshing drink & light bite? Alternatively, dine in the Calvert’s restaurant where you can sit back, relax and take in the stunning views over the surrounding Yorkshire Dales whilst you enjoy homemade dishes.

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a fine country inn situated in the very attractive village of Carperby. In 1941 James Herriot took his honeymoon here and must have enjoyed many fine days exploring the lovely countryside in this part of Wensleydale. Greta Garbo can also be counted as one of the earlier visitors.

Aysgarth Falls is a spectacular triple-drop waterfall situated in a lovely wooded gorge, on the River Ure within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Aysgarth Falls has attracted visitors for over 200 years.

The falls are spectacular all year round, as thousands of gallons of water cascade over the series of broad limestone steps. There are many well-marked walks around the falls, from an easy stroll to something a little more challenging, including circular walks which will bring you back to where you started from!

The River Ure contains brown trout, grayling and the native white-clawed crayfish. Salmon used to be seen jumping the falls. There is a variety of birdlife including kingfisher, wagtails and dippers searching the rock pools for food.
